Refugee Resettlement Ministry

Our Refugee Resettlement Ministry enables our parish to answer Pope Francis' call to aid those who are forced to flee their homelands in search of safety and shelter.  In addition to financial support, our parish has pledged to work with Catholic Charities (CC) Refugee Resettlement Office to support one refugee family resettling in Charlotte this year.   Our parish Refugee Resettlement Ministry will assist CC and the family with tasks such as:

  • Providing assistance to a newly arrived refugee family during their first months in this country
  • Welcoming, mentoring and tutoring family members
  • Transporting family members to doctor appointments, school, grocery shopping and other errands, as needed
  • Donating household items, furniture, food and financial support
  • Assisting Catholic Charities by providing additional volunteer resources (office help, organizing inventory warehouse, and other tasks as need)

Migrants are our brothers and sisters in search of a better life, far away from poverty, hunger, exploitation and the unjust distribution of the planet’s resources which are meant to be equitably shared by all. Don’t we all want a better, more decent and prosperous life to share with our loved ones?”  Pope Francis
