Our Pastor's Retirement

August 2, 2019

St. Gabriel community,
Greetings and peace!

There is a time for everything, and a season for every affair under the heavens.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)

As many of you know, I have been contemplating retirement. This November will mark my 44th year of ordination to the priesthood, and I find that I am ready to transition to the next phase of my ministry. I am grateful to Bishop Jugis who has accepted my request to retire later this year. It is a great blessing to begin and end my years of active ministry as a priest at St. Gabriel.

A new pastor has not been appointed yet. As we await news from Bishop Jugis, I encourage you to make this a time of reflection and prayer.  The Holy Spirit has been gathering the faithful at St. Gabriel for 62 years. We are joyful in the promise delivered by the Archangel Gabriel to the Blessed Virgin that the Lord is with us! I know you join me in giving thanks to God for the generosity of Spirit evident in all who worship here.

I look forward to sharing information with you as it becomes available. Our clergy, staff and many ministry leaders will continue supporting the good work of our parish and help provide for a smooth transition.

“Spirit of the Living God, fall afresh on us!”

With gratitude and appreciation,

Fr. Frank O'Rourke
