Discussion:
Watch the Catholic Brain video on Abraham
Color this picture of Abraham’s family
Discussion: Abraham trusted God completely, and God took care of Abraham. In what ways can we trust God today? How does God take care of us? (Hint: look at all the things you are thankful for and you will find all the things God gives us). How did God keep his promise to Abraham?
Abraham had faith in God. He believed that God would keep His promises to him. Abraham kept his promises to God. This was the covenant, or special agreement, they made. Covenants are like adoptions. When God and Abraham made a covenant, it meant that God invited Abraham to be in a very special friendship with Him. How do you keep your promises? What kind of agreements or contracts are there today? Work out an agreement or promise with your parent, sibling or friend to do something. Follow through and fulfill your promise.
Read the Readings here for Sunday, November 22, 2020. Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe.
Light a candle and read aloud as a family.
Discussion: Since we don’t have monarchs in the USA, we may not be familiar with what being a KING means today. But, we do have stories of people like King Arthur and our history books. What do we think about kings and queens? How do they look? How do they act? How is Jesus different from the rulers of countries? What is the job of a king? What is the job of a shepherd?

Light a candle and read aloud as a family. Readings for Sunday, November 29, 2020. First Sunday of Advent.
Discussion: “Waiting” and “watching” are words that are in all of today’s readings. What are we waiting for? What are we watching for? When we are expecting a guest to visit, do we ever look out the window and wonder when will they get here?

If you have an Advent wreath, this is the time to take it out. If you don’t have one yet, make one together as a family.
What you will need:
How to make it:
1. Color 3 cardboard rolls purple and one pink. Color the paper plate green. You can add little red berries on the green wreath.
2. Tape the “candle” on the “wreath”
3. You can make yellow “flames” and tape them on each candle, lighting one each Sunday.
How to use an Advent Wreath:
Pray each Sunday of Advent: Bless this Advent wreath dear God, as we prepare to welcome your son, Jesus into our hearts.
Light a candle and read aloud as a family. Readings for Sunday, December 6, 2020. Second Sunday of Advent
Discussion: In the first reading, things are not hopeful or peaceful. It seems pretty sad for God’s people. How does God’s love make you feel better when you are sad? Again, we hear that we must be ever vigilant, but what are we looking for? What distracts us from paying attention?
