Although plans are not yet underway for our next pilgrimage, take our prerequisite "Genesis to Jesus" Bible study if you are contemplating going to the Holy Land or Italy on a pilgrimage with our parish.
This is above all a spiritual pilgrimage to the Holy Land led by Fr Mike and Dr Glasow. It is not intended to be a “site-seeing trip” but rather an experience of faith. On this trip there will be spiritual components with daily Mass and prayers. We will be staying in one hotel in Jerusalem and traveling from there to multiple sites, returning each day. It is a luxury hotel with all meals included- though we may eat out on occasion. Everything is included in the price, with the exception of the tip we give our tour guide and driver.
Our tour company is 206Tours, a highly reputable company and has been organizing trips to the Holy Land for many years. Therefore, we expect the safest and best organizational planning possible, all the while understanding that international travel, especially to a busy place such as the Holy Land, will entail a certain level of needed flexibility. In addition to the basic biblical literacy course "Genesis to Jesus", we are asking that pilgrims also take advantage of the follow-up course, Jesus the Way, the Truth, and the Life (JWTL). Some have already taken this course. But for those who have not, it will be offered again after Christmas before we leave for the Holy Land.
The Bible course JWTL is designed to give a detailed overview of the Holy Land and has a missionary discipleship lens through which it views the Bible and the Holy Land. Both studies help prepare you to get the most out of this experience. Additionally, you will have gotten to know many other parishioners in the program, and as such, the people going with you on the pilgrimage will be familiar faces. This will help create a nice community for the trip. We hope this will become a yearly trip, open to all those who finish this Bible study.
No.
Estimated between 30-40 parishioners.
We anticipate a large number of parishioners desiring to go on this trip. As space is limited, there will necessarily need to be a waiting list and we can’t guarantee a spot.
The Holy Land is a very hot environment. If you are unable to be in the sun for multiple hours a day, and to be on your feet most of the day, this trip is not for you. Many areas of the Holy Land are inaccessible by bus. Therefore, we will need to walk on foot at times over a mile to arrive to certain places, especially within Jerusalem. Anybody who needs wheelchair assistance will be unable to join the group as wheelchair access is not universally available. For the sake of the group, we ask only healthy individuals apply.
