Lack of affordable housing is one of the biggest challenges facing our homeless neighbors in Charlotte. Habitat Charlotte transforms lives by partnering with families and our communities to create and preserve affordable home ownership solutions, including construction of new homes for qualified families. Homeowners contribute 300 hours of sweat-equity to Habitat. Learn more here.
Over 30 years, St. Gabriel Church has built 4 homes and assisted with construction of more than 100 homes. We support Habitat's commitment to build "strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter".
HOM - now part of Catholic Charities - furnishes apartments for refugee families being settled in Charlotte, using good-condition used furniture and new and good-condition housewares.
Furniture and houseware drives are held in the St. Gabriel Church parking lot on the 3rd Saturday of every other month, with furniture pick-ups available.

Licensed nurses, do you have a heart for the most vulnerable in our city…those living in shelters or supportive housing?
NSON (Nurses Serving Our Neighbors) will soon be a non-profit operational foundation comprised of volunteer Faith Community Nurse Advocates who are providing “wholistic” (body, mind, spirit) health promotion for the most vulnerable in our Charlotte community.
Serving in this ministry may involve only a few phone calls a month, setting up or meeting someone at a doctor’s appointment, taking vital signs at a blood pressure clinic, providing medication education…being present to those who need to navigate our complex medical system.
Licensed nurses (retired or with some time to give) are invited to “come and see”.
